Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the roads to get to the house like?

A: The Overlook is located at the top of a private community. The road leading up to the house is paved, but steep and windy. All vehicles are capable of reaching the house, but in winter months we recommend AWD/4WD vehicles. As always, take your time and drive carefully.

Q: How is the cell phone service and internet at the house?

A: The cell service is excellent at the house. Guests using both Verizon and AT&T report having great service. The only option for internet currently is satellite service, which can be slow at times. Streaming and video conferencing can require buffering at peak usage times. We plan to upgrade to StarLink when it becomes available. Unfortunately, wired internet such as cable or fios are not available.

Q: Do you allow pets? If so, is there a fee?

A: Yes, we love pets! We allow you to bring up to two dogs/cats for an additional fee of $100. While we love our furry friends, we ask they do not go on the furniture out of respect for all guests staying at the house. We also ask that you clean up after your pet’s using the provided pet waste bags. Lastly, we ask they are not left unattended if they are not house-trained or have any destructive habits.

Q: Are there things for kids to do nearby?

A: Absolutely! There are so many fun things for families to do nearby. There are tons of opportunities for hiking, fishing, and swimming in the surrounding area. There is also horseback riding, disc golf, and snow tubing (winter only) just a short drive away. We are approximately 30 minutes from Boone and Blowing rock, which offers many site seeing, dining, and shopping opportunities as well!
